R. Whittingham and Sons Meat Co. has been a family operated business since 1947, distributing to some of the finest restaurants, hotels, country clubs and casinos in the United States today.
Richard Sr. set out with one goal in mind, to give his customers only the best quality, consistency and service possible. Serve them only the finest USDA Prime and Choice cuts available. This goal still holds today, three generations later.
In 1972, Whittingham Meats took the business to a new level by opening its doors to the public and offering the same quality meats and at wholesale prices. People were now able to serve restaurant-quality meats in their own homes.
Even today, we continue to grow, to better serve our customers. In 2000, we constructed a 7,200 square foot addition in Alsip. This state of the art facility gives us the space and technology to compete in today's competitive markets. With more space, we have expanded our lines and now are a full-service supplier. Our new "Dry Aging" facility enables us to offer our customers yet another product line. The new retail area gives us the opportunity to open more days (Monday - Saturday) and gives us the space to offer more products.
